Egyptian Medical universities provide a 5 years MBBCh Degree (Equivalent to MBBS in India) program in all the preclinical subjects and selected clinical subjects. The five years MBBCh Degree (Equivalent to MBBS in India) course is divided into 10 semesters of 6 months each. Upon successful completion of the course, students will undergo a compulsory residential rotating internship. The medium of instruction is English.
The first and second years of instruction cover integrated preclinical Sciences, Community Medicine, Introduction to clinical Medicine and Medical Informatics. Preclinical Science includes Anatomy, Microbiology, Pathology and Pharmacology & Physiology. A student is required to qualify all the preclinical subjects before he/she is promoted to Next Semester V of clinical sciences.
Clinical sciences include the forensic Medicine, Community Medicine, Ophthalmology, Medicine & Allied Subjects Psychiatry, Dermatology, Radiology, Emergency Medicine, Obstertrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and other allied medical and surgical specialities & subspecialties. Clinical training is taught at the Medical Teaching Hospital and Associated Local hospitals.
